About The Artist

Alkire received her BFA from the University of Kansas. She also attended Alfred University, Alfred, NY and the Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas. Her studio is in Overland Park, Kansas. Her art is collected by both private and corporate patrons.

Personal Statement: While looking for a venue to create portraits, I was greatly influenced by Richard Wright, my former Professor of Music History at the University of Kansas. I feel that working from archival jazz and blues film and from my photographs, shot in local Kansas City Clubs throughout the metro, gives me a spontaneous active surface
